Backbend and Heart Opening Workshop with Orsi

Description

In our daily life we expend a lot of our activities seated, and we came with the habit of rounding our shoulders and back while working with a computer, driving, texting and cycling. With the backbends exercises we are doing the exactly the opposite, in order to decompress our back and get a better balance in our body.

Backbends exercises creates a space in the front part of the body. They stretch the hip flexors, the quadriceps, the abdomen, as well as the shoulder and chest area. This helps to release a lot of hold tension. With these simple routines, back bend can help to alleviate different kind of back and neck pain.

At energetic level, they relieve stress and anxiety, opening our mind our heart which help us to look for new perspectives.
In our Backbend Level 1 Class, we well do different exercises to prepare the shoulders and mobilise the different segments of the back. We will also include the following postures with different modifications and blocks.

• Camel pose (Ustrasana) with dynamic and passive variations
• Tiger pose (uthana vyaghrasana)
• Bow pose (Dhanurasana) like I do in the picture
• Cobra pose (Bhujangasana)
• Locust pose (Salabhasana)

In this level 1 workshop, we start with the foundation. Here we are going to focus on working our core muscles. The objective is to start to give more stability for the backbends.

I recommend our workshop also for those who are practising for a while to clean their techniques. We will provide a solid foundation which is really important for achieving a stronger practice.

The workshop will be followed by other levels, where we will gradually build up toward a deeper physical practice.

Schedule

14:00 – 14.30 Explanation about main muscle actions happening in the body during the backbend. You will gain a better understand of functional anatomy and a better understand of what is happening in your body during the movements.
14:30 – 15.45 1 hour guided class with a 15 minutes of meditation
15:45 – 16.00 Tea serving

Healthy Back and Yoga Therapy Workshop with Diana

Description

Back pain is a very common concern that affect most of the people at some point in their life. There are multiple reasons that causes this condition, and having a sedentary lifestyle contributes to increase that issue.

In this workshop, I target to provide a set of therapeutic exercises inspired with yoga to activate the muscles from your body and relief the back pain. This class is ideal all those who want to have a healthy back. People who sit long hours, those who carries some injury or just feel rusty and inflexible; and even for those who are very active but that want to have an experience which can offer them the option of stimulating more awareness about the body to have a healthier life.

Although all yoga is potentially having therapeutic effects, this class is specific application of certain yogic tools. There will be a combination of exercises to address physical mental and emotional needs including breathing exercise, meditation and visualisation techniques including: body scan, osteo-pressure, foam rolling and targeted myofascial release with trigger point therapy to help unblock and eliminate muscular pain.

Beside that, the workshop contains of course physical postures that address to help specific areas of discomfort.

The class is providing a safe way of working with the natural capacity of our body, ease aches and pains and optimise well-being.

Tea serving session will be given at the end of the workshop.

New comers and beginner yogis are welcome as well. Please wear flexible clothing suitable for yoga.
